Planned Giving

Many people find it important to support our animal friends both during their lifetimes and after they are gone. If you are interested in leaving a lasting gift to help provide care for the animals at the Rhode Island SPCA, speak with your attorney about estate planning options. The Rhode Island SPCA appreciates all gifts. We would be happy to work with you to set up a gift plan that best suits your needs. If you or your attorney would like to discuss your charitable goals in confidence, please contact Stephanie Van Patten at svanpatten@rispca.com or 401.415.8019.

When you include the Rhode Island SPCA in your estate plan, your commitment will show a tremendous final gesture of support for our mission to care and protect the neediest of animals in our community.  By making a bequest intention to the Rhode Island SPCA in your will or other estate plans, you will become an honored member of our Rainbow Bridge Society. Planned gifts are an investment in the future of the Rhode Island SPCA, solidifying our financial position and creating a legacy for generations to come.  Thank you for ensuring that the RISPCA can make an impact for homeless and companion animals well into the future.

Bequest

After you have provided for family and loved ones, you can include the Rhode Island SPCA in your will for a specific amount or a percentage of what is remaining in your estate. Make your bequest by asking your lawyer to use the following language in your will: “I bequeath to the RISPCA, a private 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located at 155 Plan Way, Warwick, RI 02886, ___% of my residuary estate for its general purpose.”

Charitable Trusts

You can establish a trust that will provide yourself or loved ones with income for life or a specified number of years. At the end of the term of the trust, the Rhode Island SPCA will receive what is remaining in the trust. Setting up a charitable trust will also allow you to receive favorable tax benefits.

Life Insurance

You can name the Rhode Island SPCA the beneficiary of a new life insurance policy or you can transfer a life insurance policy that is no longer needed by your family to the RISPCA. Naming the RISPCA as beneficiary of a life insurance policy can offer favorable tax benefits and allow you to amplify your gift to the animals. Through a relatively small annual cost of the insurance premium, a benefit far in excess of what would otherwise be possible can be provided for the Rhode Island SPCA.

Charitable Gift Annuities

To establish an annuity, you can make a gift to the Rhode Island SPCA of cash or appreciated securities. You will receive a lifetime of annual income payments from the annuity. At the end of the term of the annuity, the Rhode Island SPCA will receive the remaining principle.

Gifts of Stock

The Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will accept stock as a gift or donation. Generally the gift is tax-deductible and there are no capital gains taxes to pay. However, it is advised that you consult your personal tax advisor.
