Along with operating a full shelter that is home to over 100 cats, dogs and other domestic animals each day; investigating and prosecuting cases of animal cruelty; legislative work; and community outreach, the RISPCA offers a variety of programs and services.
Through our website, we seek to engage and inform people about the many aspects of pet care, and will continue to expand on the information and resources that we provide.
Through The Marvin Fund, the Rhode Island SPCA is able to help defray veterinary costs and services for some elderly and disabled pet owners who otherwise could not afford them.
For general questions about pets, we have an Ask the Vet page.
We offer humane euthanasia and cremation services for elderly and severely ill pets. Please contact the RISPCA for costs and more information. We also have a Memorial Garden where you can choose to honor the memory of a beloved pet or other loved one.
We provide Humane Education programs for local schools, youth and adult groups free of charge. Numerous internet resources, listings of organizations, reading lists and handouts are available here on our website for your information.
We offer a variety of canine training classes, as well as consultations with our dog trainers to work on behavioral challenges, one of the most common reasons for relinquishment of pets to a shelter.
