Adoptable Dogs

A quick overview of the adoption process:

  1. If you see a dog you like the look and sound of, please fill out an application. They are at the shelter, or you can print and fill out a Dog Application. You are not committing to adoption by filling out an application, but this starts the process. Applications can be dropped off, faxed to (401)438-8154 or emailed to our trainer, Jen at training@rispca.com
  2. Our dog trainer Jen determines whether you and the dog are a good potential match and approves your application.
  3. She will then contact you to schedule meeting the dog. Everyone in the family (including dogs you already have) must attend the meet and greet to ensure there is compatibility all around.

Prior to the scheduled meet and greet, you will only be able to view the dog in the kennel area, so please plan appropriately and manage the expectations of family members, as well as your travel if you are coming some distance.

Here are the dogs available for adoption at the RISPCA. They can’t wait to go home!

Oreo is a silly, energetic 6 year old Jack Russell Terrier/Boston Terrier Mix.  He was brought in because of the previous owner’s living situation changing.  Oreo loves going for walks and being outside, he is a playful, spunky fellow that can be a little timid at first.  Mr. Oreo has lived with a cat and might be up for a meet and greet with your dog if you have one, but we would recommend him to be in a house with older children or adults only.  If you are interested in this wiggle butt, please email Jen at training@rispca.com

Princess is a 5 1/2 year old pit bull terrier who came in with her brother due to the previous owner’s change in living situation.  Miss Princess can be a little skittish at first and does like to explore and do her own thing, but once she is comfortable she warms up to be a lap dog!  She is fabulous walking on a leash, knows sit and is working on the rest of her basics.  This little lady would do well in a home with her brother, but other than him she would probably be best as an only pet.  If you are interested in learning more about her, please contact Jen at Training@rispca.com

Onyka is a 4 year old pitbull terrier who was brought in because her owner lost their home.  She spent that last few months of her time with them living in a car and they thought it would be more fair to bring her to us.  They said she is very loving, gets super excited, but can be anxious.  Miss Onyka loves to play, she loves car rides, and she also loves snuggles from her favorite people.  It does take her a little bit of time to warm up to strangers and because of this she needs to go into an adults only home.  Onyka is having a tough time in her kennel, but she is a love when she is out.  If you are interested in this lovely lady, please email Jen at Training@rispca.com

This poor little Golden Girl is Nay Nay and she is having a difficult time getting adopted. You see, her owner passed away, and her children originally put that she was 6, but our vet estimates she is closer to 10. That combined with some minor health problems like a slight murmur, old eyes and a u.t.i., sadly seems to be keeping her kennel bound. The good news is that she is a Marvin’s Friend which means her adoption fee is waived! Some other positives….she is a Shih Tzu/Lhasa mix, she walks very well on her leash and won’t need lots of exercise, takes her treats very gently, likes her squeaky toys, she’s crate trained. She would do best as an only pet and for obvious reasons we feel a nice quite, low key household with teens and up would be the perfect fit for this sweetheart to live out her golden years.

We’d like to introduce you to Joni, an adorable little Vizsla mix who, as you can see, loves her stuffy toys! She is 9 years old and is a Marvin’s Friend, which means her adoption fee has been waived. She is a peppy, happy, silly, energetic little monkey who has a lot of love to give. If you would like more info on this little character, please email Jen at Training@rispca.com

They say I have lots of Beagle in me….as for the rest, they have NO CLUE! But, if you’re looking for a spirited, happy, silly, smart little girl, then I’m for you. My name is Bella and I’m 3 years old. When I first got here, I didn’t know very much. In just 10 minutes, they taught me how to sit which they say means I’m pretty smart. They said ‘down’ is my next trick and then the sky’s the limit. I’m very athletic and I like to play. I also walk super well on my leash so taking me for walks will be fun for everyone! Because I’m nervous at first and need a bit of confidence boosting, they think it’s best that I live with bigger people, like teens and up. I’m not sure how I feel about cats and dogs because I’ve never lived with any. I am crate trained, but may need a bit of help with some potty training if you don’t have a crate, but since I’m a smarty pants, that shouldn’t be much of a problem. Please check in with Jen at training@rispca.com and she’ll help you with anything you need to know.
