A quick overview of the adoption process:
- If you see a dog you like the look and sound of, please fill out an application. They are at the shelter, or you can print and fill out a Dog Application. You are not committing to adoption by filling out an application, but this starts the process. Applications can be dropped off, faxed to (401)438-8154 or emailed to our trainer, Jen at firstname.lastname@example.org
- Our dog trainer Jen determines whether you and the dog are a good potential match and approves your application.
- She will then contact you to schedule meeting the dog. Everyone in the family (including dogs you already have) must attend the meet and greet to ensure there is compatibility all around.
Prior to the scheduled meet and greet, you will only be able to view the dog in the kennel area, so please plan appropriately and manage the expectations of family members, as well as your travel if you are coming some distance.
Here are the dogs available for adoption at the RISPCA. They can’t wait to go home!
Oreo is a silly, energetic 6 year old Jack Russell Terrier/Boston Terrier Mix. He was brought in because of the previous owner’s living situation changing. Oreo loves going for walks and being outside, he is a playful, spunky fellow that can be a little timid at first. Mr. Oreo has lived with a cat, but we would recommend him to be in a house with older children or adults only as the only dog. If you are interested in this wiggle butt, please email Jen at email@example.com
Princess is a 5 1/2 year old pit bull terrier who came in with her brother due to the previous owner’s change in living situation. Miss Princess can be a little skittish at first and does like to explore and do her own thing, but once she is comfortable she warms up to be a lap dog! She is fabulous walking on a leash, knows sit and is working on the rest of her basics. This little lady would do well in a home with her brother, but other than him she would probably be best as an only pet. If you are interested in learning more about her, please contact Jen at Training@rispca.com
Onyka is a 4 year old pitbull terrier who was brought in because her owner lost their home. She spent that last few months of her time with them living in a car and they thought it would be more fair to bring her to us. They said she is very loving, gets super excited, but can be anxious. Miss Onyka loves to play, she loves car rides, and she also loves snuggles from her favorite people. It does take her a little bit of time to warm up to strangers and because of this she needs to go into an adults only home. Onyka is having a tough time in her kennel, but she is a love when she is out. If you are interested in this lovely lady, please email Jen at Training@rispca.com
You’ve got to come & check out this little pip squeak. His name is Leo and he’s a 10 month old Terrier Mix pup looking to find his new home. Apparently the landlord didn’t want him on the premises so here he is with us! He’s shy around other dogs, never lived with cats, and begins a bit shy with people, but warms up fast. He’s a smart and energetic whipper snapper who enjoys his tennis balls and will definitely form a bond with his human! We feel an adults only home would be best for Leo
Kane is a sweet older boy who apparently is quite the snuggle bug. He is a 7 yr old pittie boy who’s former owner’s living situation changed and he found himself here with us. We think that his happy disposition and friendly nature will make him a great buddy for the right family. He is very food motivated, takes his treats gently and already knows his ‘sit’ command and he loves to play. We would love for Kane to find a home where he will get the attention he deserves, have his own bed, get lots of love and spend quality time with his humans. He spent a good deal of time alone in the basement and outside, so it’s time for him to get spoiled, don’t you think? Kane is a MARVIN’S FRIEND, which means his adoption fee is waived.
