Thank you Kailyn!
Kailyn requested donations from the RISPCA in lieu of birthday gifts, for which we are not only grateful, but also pretty impressed. Paws up for thinking of the animals! Thank you, Kailyn!

Baleigh and Brady
Baleigh, 9, and her brother Brady, 12, also asked for donations in lieu of birthday gifts and got their friends and relatives to donate $601.00, which they presented to the RISPCA. Thank you so much, kids, for your selfless dedication to homeless pets! We really appreciate it!
The RISPCA wishes to thank Mrs. Diane Gravel for her support of the RISPCA. Over the years she has made these beautiful pillows for the pets at the shelter. These are her latest creations.
Kiley Ahn (pictured here getting a hug from her horse Gizmo) and her friend Johnna (pictured below) raised funds from a bake sale they held at Creative Center Daycare & Preschool. They worked hard baking all of the goodies as well as selling them. Thank you so much!
Second Graders Raise $1000
Addie Malkemes, Sarah Clarke, and Jami Adams, all 2nd graders at the Meadowbrook Farms Elementary School, set themselves a goal of raising money for the RISPCA in one week, and sent out email notices to the entirety of the school. By the end of the week, they had raised $1000, which they presented to the RISPCA in conjunction with an education program at their school! Thank you so much, girls! And thank you Meadowbrook Farms.
Donations Collected for RISPCA in lieu of Birthday Gifts!
Mirabelle collected donations for the animals at the Rhode Island SPCA in lieu of gifts for her 7th birthday! She came to visit the RISPCA with her sister Amelia to drop off the donations. Thank you so much!
The Homeless Animal Helpers” hosted their second fundraiser to benefit the RISPCA. Destinee DelBonis, creator of the business, designed pet products, baked “pupcakes” and made bracelets that were all sold on November 22, 2013. Through her effort and assistance from her twin brother, David and cousins Antonio and Becca a total of $300 was raised. Destinee and David used this money to purchase some of the items on our wish list.
They rose to the occasion again when we held our Spring Baby Shower and brought boxes of supplies for donation. Wow!
Mary Cottrell Fund Established
Recently, the Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was grateful to receive a very generous bequest from the estate of the late Mary Cottrell. Her generous gift of $116,911.33 will create a lasting legacy, allowing the RISPCA to continue our mission of giving animals a second chance and help bring justice against those who abuse them.
Mrs. Cottrell, of Greenville, was employed by the Providence Journal for many years, retiring in 1989. She was a great lover of animals, with a special love for dogs, and spent her retirement happily traveling to Florida with her dear friend Dick, enjoying nature, her friends, and her puppies.
In her memory, the Mary Cottrell Fund has been established in the RISPCA endowment to provide ongoing support for the Society. Her gift has been memorialized at the RISPCA with a bronze plaque that has been placed at the entrance to the shelter in Riverside, RI.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Rhode Island
Associates at Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island recently donated nearly $1,400 to the RI SPCA through theirCoins for a Cause associate contribution program. All Blue Cross associates are invited to nominate local nonprofit organizations for consideration in the program and each month, associates participate in an online vote to select two organizations to receive the contributions for the period. Over 60% of Blue Cross associates participate in the Coins for a Cause program, which raises close to $20,000 annually for local nonprofit organizations.
