We do our best to find the best possible home for each dog. Some of the dogs may have special needs and may not be a good fit for everyone. Because of this, applications are considered on a “best fit” not “first come” basis.
The first step to adopting a pet from the Rhode Island SPCA is filling out a dog adoption application. We review all applications and contact the best fit families for each dog.
We are accepting applications for puppies (5 months or younger) on an ongoing basis. By selecting “Puppy” on your application, you will be added to our list and contacted when we have litters available.
Prior to having an approved application and scheduling a “meet and greet,” you may only be able to view the dog in the kennel area. If kennel staff is available, an impromptu meet may be done but this meet does not mean your application has been approved. Please plan appropriately and manage the expectations of family members, as well as your travel if you are traveling some distance.
Effective July 1, 2019, the cost to adopt an adult dog is $225.00 and a puppy (5 months or younger) is $400.00. All of the dogs will be spayed/neutered, up to date on routine shots and a receive a free collar and leash from our friends at Up Country.
