Update Monday, June 8, 2020: Our shelter is open to visitors and resuming regular hours. Welcome back! When you arrive, you will notice that we’ve put a few new procedures in place to help keep our visitors, staff and volunteers safe. There will be a limit of how many people can enter the shelter at one time. Staff, volunteers and visitors are required to wear face masks at all times. We ask that you practice social distancing and stay at least 6 feet apart from each other. Good hygiene is in your hands! Please wash and sanitize regularly.
We have begun to open up our re-homing and adoption program so you will see more animals available for adoption soon. Our staff and animals are really looking forward to seeing you again! If you have any questions, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or 401-438-8150.
What’s the Adoption Process?
Congrats on wanting to add a shelter cat to your life! The first step to adopting at the Rhode Island SPCA is to come down to the shelter and visit with our cats! Our shelter staff will be available to talk to you and help you make a good match. When you’ve made your choice, there an application that you will need to fill out. Applications need to be filled out in person and are not available online.
The cost to adopt an adult cat is $100 and a kitten is $150. All cats will be spayed/neutered and up to date on routine shots before being adopted. If you choose a kitten that is not of age to be spay/neutered, a spay/neuter deposit will apply.
Interested in Adopting a Kitten?
Looking to add a kitten to your life? Excellent! When we have kittens available for adoption we will list them here on the Adoptable Cats webpage and on Facebook or Instagram. Due to the demand for kittens, we are unable to keep general applications or inquiries on file; the list would just be too long! We encourage you to bookmark our Adoptable Cats webpage and like us on Facebook so you will get announcements as soon we have kittens available for adoption!
