The threat of COVID-19 has generated understandable concerns in our community. The Rhode Island SPCA has been monitoring the circumstances very closely and are reviewing our operations on a daily basis to best protect the health, safety and well-being of our animals, staff, volunteers, visitors and community members. With this in mind, we want to share with you the following steps we have taken:
General Operations Updates
To do our part in helping to keep our community safe and healthy, The Rhode Island SPCA shelter is closed to visitors until further notice.
In order to reduce the number of staff members at the shelter, over 30 animals have been adopted into loving homes since March 25th and the rest of our animals have been moved to foster care homes. We have suspended our adoption program until further notice.
Our administrative staff will continue to work remotely. Limited shelter staff will continue to work, taking care of the needs of any animals that are or may be at the shelter due to emergency circumstances.
