We have been monitoring the ever changing circumstances and are reviewing our operations on a daily basis. We are doing our very best to protect the health, safety and well-being of our staff, volunteers and community members with added protocols and procedures.
General Shelter Operations
As of Saturday, October 31, 2020, the Rhode Island SPCA’s shelter will be temporarily closed. Our programs and services will remain open. Adoptions, surrenders and other business will be conducted by appointment only.
The hours of shelter operations is as follows: Sunday 10AM – 3PM, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 10AM – 4:30 PM and Saturday 10AM – 4PM.

Adoptions

Owner Surrenders
We are now accepting owner surrenders by appointment only. Please call us at 401-438-8150 or info@rispca.com to discuss your situation with a staff member. We are here for you.
Hardship Boarding Program
If you are in need of a temporary place for your pet, we will do our best to offer you assistance through our Hardship Boarding Program. Please contact us at 401-438-8150 or info@rispca.com to discuss your needs with a staff member.
Animal Cruelty Investigations
Reports of animal cruelty or neglect can be reported to our Animal Cruelty Department at cruelty@rispca.com. We have on-call services to best serve the animals in our community.
Emergency Medical Care
We are continuing to provide medical services through The Marvin Fund recipients. If you are receiving assistance from this program and need to make an appointment, please contact Julie Nadro, (401) 438-8150, x5.
Emergency Pet Food Assistance Program
We are offering curbside pickup for pet owners in our community if you are in need of pet food. There is no application process. Just ask. We’re here for you and your pets. Donations from Rumford Pet Center and generous individual donors have made this program possible.

All Humane Education presentations at the shelter and in schools have been postponed until further notice. Virtual classroom programs are available for any educators or after-school programs. For more information, contact Director of Humane Education, Amy Skalubinski at amy@rispca.com.
